Through their content marketing, they present each and every user with a tailored list of &#039;suggested&#039; products on multiple occasions (email marketing, personalised homepages, related products, customers who bought this product have also purchased...). By using their powerful marketing knowledge (based on real customers making actual purchases from their website) they can customise their approach to each customer based on the predicted sales patterns which they have developed for ‘Customer type A’ or ‘Customer type B’ for example.

It may sound like a huge task for a business to take such a targeted approach, but it’s not too difficult to utilise this kind of strategy with your own eCommerce website – a platform such as Magento allows you to integrate cross-sells and up-sells quite easily and efficiently for example.
