Even a Very Simple Video Can Make for Effective Content

A Length of Wire, a Bunch of Sticky Notes, and a Red Marker Tell an Appealing and Amusing Story

Evernote homepage Evernote is a cool web-based application that lets you save notes, web links, webpage clips, documents, images, and even iPhone  phone voice notes. Because the application is both versatile and unique, Evernote requires a bit of explaining.

Most of their explanation takes the form of short videos which illustrate the wide range of capabilities to which users can put Evernote.  In fact, they lead off with a video on the home page.

But, my favorite is a very brief video that uses stuff all of us would have at home to tell the Evernote story in just 44 seconds.

With this video and the many others on their website, the Evernote folks demonstrate the power of video to tell a story effectively and inexpensively.  There are no elaborate production qualities, expensive actors, or lavish sets.  They simply use voiceover and screenshots to show prospective users how to put Evernote to work effectively.

These Evernote videos remind us once again that compelling content marketing relies much more on creativity, ingenuity, and good storytelling than it does on big budgets.

Of course, I’m forced to admit that it’s about time I begin to explore my own video creation to do a better job of illustrating key content marketing and social media concepts.  So, stay tuned for my upcoming efforts.

Below is that favorite video I mentioned:

Also, be sure to check out the versatile Evernote application. It’s an excellent example of the new generation of very powerful cloud computing software available for small businesses. it comes in both free and inexpensive versions.
