shamahyder website Shama is an online marketing expert.  How do I know this without having met her?  Because I have visited her website, “AftertheLaunch.com,” read her blog, and downloaded her e-book, “Online Marketing Plan.” There is so much great stuff inside this e-book that you’ll be amazed she’s not charging big bucks for you to buy it.

How did I learn about her in the first place?  Because she wrote a great comment on one of my blog posts.  That prompted me to visit her website where I discovered all the terrific stuff she’s doing.

In other words, she is walking the content marketing walk.

    I am totally flattered. Thank you so much! You guys do such amazing work here that being recognized in this manner definitely means a lot!

    I am not a solopreneur-I have a team of 5 full time folks. However, I am definitely the face and “brand” of the company.

    Hi Newt and Shama,
    I am a regular reader of Newt and Joe.On your recommendation I visited AfterTheLaunch.Good work! But if I were an alien from Mars, I wouldn’t help wondering whether Shama’s blog/site has hired this blog to write positive reviews for her.
    I have problems understanding where she positions herself as an ‘online marketing expert’, in a world where using the word ‘expert’ is so dangerous and easy at the same time. From the name I guess het business targets brand new businesses and start-ups with no understanding of the power of online marketing. While at places in the blog/site the distinction between marketing and web marketing is very blurry.
    No offence to anyone, I have subscribed to Shama and will keep in touch.

    Hi Hersh-

    Nice to see you here. To address your points-

    1) Newt and Joe have never seen a penny from me. This was their own idea. In fact, I didn’t know about it until a google alert popped up in my email. Funny huh? So, I can pretty much guarantee that they didn’t have any ulterior motive. I am honored that they used me as an example of content marketing. I am also a HUGE fan of their work. I love reading their stuff!

    2) You are right. The word “expert” is touted by many very easily. While we do claim to be online experts, we have the claim backed-up by the copious amount of content on the site-which is why I am guessing Newt and Joe have used me as an example.

    3) We help businesses “After The Launch.” Very few of our clients are start-ups. Most are growth-oriented, well established, businesses who are looking to make the most of the online world is a distinguished and reputable fashion.

    3)Web marketing is a big part of “marketing”-so the distinctions are often blurry. Conversation, honesty, community are all “marketing” principles-but can really be put into action online.

    Thanks for not retaliating back in a reactionary way!
    I know Newt. In fact I had an email conversation from him about reviewing blogs and, whether he takes permissions or inform the blog/site owner. So I perfectly know his stance on the matter. But as you said yourself, the review is very flattering hence my comment.
