The Future of Publishing: Agingcare.com Gives Us a Glimpse

agingcare.com home page It’s Online.  It’s Highly Focused. It’s Interactive. It Comes from an Unexpected Provider.

When you visit Agingcare.com, you might reasonably suppose that it is created by a veteran publishing company with roots in the healthcare field and lots of magazines or newspaper to its credit.

That would be a reasonable supposition, but it misses the mark.  In fact, a close look at this first rate online publication suggests that the future of publishing may come from some surprising quarters.

As a matter of fact, Agingcare.com is the brainchild of MediaBrains, a Naples Florida based company which is a dominant supplier of online business directories for publishing companies.

The company began life in the 1990’s by providing a way for magazine readers to get online reader service information in the very early days of the Internet.  Later they focused on the creation of comprehensive business directories that were customized or hundreds of publishers in vertical markets around the globe. directories continued to be their core business, but they are expanding their content efforts dramatically.

Although Agingcare.com builds on their understanding of the publishing universe,  MediaBrains has never created standalone content. This excellent new online publication demonstrates how powerful the combination of clear focus, precise targeting, superb technology, and the understanding of a need for community can be in the hands of a company that really cares.

It aims its content precisely at adult children who are looking after parents within their homes.  This universe of family caregivers is already large and will become much larger as the over 65 population grows from 12.8% today to 20.3% in 2050.

According to the company:

Agingcare.com provides an empathetic community to exchange advice, ideas and emotional support. The site editors  bring together relevant information on the critical issues associated with caregiving while providing easy, direct access to answers.

As company CEO, Joe Buckheit describes Agingcare.com in a more personal way, “I had a personal experience that opened my eyes to the vast network of caregivers who are searching for information. Agingcare.com is an excellent way for me to use my business experience in online publishing to hopefully touch people’s lives in a positive way.”

If you’d like to see what the future of publishing may look like, spend some serious time examining Agingcare.com.  I guarantee you will be impressed by the quality of content, design, and community. Smart companies like MediaBrains with great ideas and no legacy print publishing infrastructure will have enormous freedom to create powerful new community-based content on the Web.
