Improved Visuals Strengthen an Already Great eNewsletter

mindjet enewsletter 3-08 top We have written a lot about Mindjet and their extensive use of content marketing. In fact, we feature their online marketing efforts in our upcoming book, Get Content. Get Customers.

I’m impressed that they keep improving what they do–particularly in the area of design and visual content.

I just received their latest eNewsletter. It has changed dramatically from previous versions. It’s now even better than before–and that’s saying something.

Even if you lack their budget, you can emulate what they do.

The eNewsletter now features carefully chosen images that represent the concept, topic, or mind map featured in each article.

The eNewsletter has a sleek new look with a new header and a distinctive blue background, ranging from very light at the top to a deep rich blue farther down.

What’s notable about the images is that they take up almost as much space as the explanatory text beneath them.

mindjet enewsletter 3-08 middle Each article features a succinct and descriptive headline and just enough text to lure you into reading the entire article, downloading a mind map, or watching a video. For example, they provide a video about how to link and attach documents and MindManager. When you head off to watch the video, you have the opportunity to look at more videos which help you become more productive when using the software tool.

They have now added more “Customer Column’s” which featured content provided by subject matter experts. In this issue, you can learn about strategic brainstorming, finding the perfect customer, and creativity methods that can be easily structured and reproduced. Each of these has intrinsic merit. Each of these is explained, of course, with a mind map

Although the content is 100% customer centric, the eNewsletter does offer you multiple opportunities to upgrade to the latest version of MindManager.

This eNewsletter illustrates the power of integrating relevant content with thoughtful visual design. The combination of image and text makes it much more likely that you will take action to go from the eNewsletter to their website. Each time you take that action, the company becomes more valuable to you as a current or future supplier of productivity tools.

Clearly, the folks at Mindjet are not content to stick with a good eNewsletter. They just keep on making it better. By focusing on both content and images, you can do the same
