Stunning Visuals and Crisp Copy Make for a Must Read ENewsletter
Trendspottings does it right. By emulating their approach you can improve your eNewsletter results.
We’ve written about the great work that Noise Inc. did for the ‘Tween Waters Inn on Sanibel Island, Florida. They took a website with a minimal visuals and transformed it by using evocative imagery to create the portrait of a fantastical getaway in a tropical paradise.
They take an equally powerful visual approach in their newsletter, Trendspottings. Here are the elements that make their March 2008 eNewsletter so successful:
- A very appealing image of an attractive young woman accompanying an article about the increasing importance of women as online buyers and decision-makers. The powerful image and the headline,”Women Rule, grab your attention immediately.
- The accompanying text gives you just enough information to motivate you to learn all about the digital marketing hot buttons that motivate women to buy something.
The second article adjoins a suitably wacky image of a guy upside down with his tie hanging below his head relates to “Turning the Box Upside Down.” This relates to Noise Inc.’s sometimes radical approach to marketing. As they put it, “We don’t just think outside the box. We turned it upside down and sometimes even break it apart.”- There is a great article on “How to Generate Click — Click — Clickthrough.” It deals with the critical marketing issue of how to combat the declining rate of click through is on web banner ads. Of course, the text is accompanied by an appealing image of a young woman clicking away on her laptop.
- Each article includes a logical topical header such as branding, incentive marketing, and digital marketing. Thus, even before you read the text you have a pretty good idea of which will be getting.
The Trendspottings eNewsletter represents excellent design accompanied by well-written content.
Although this eNewsletter is the product of an award-winning advertising agency, you can accomplish comparable results with a relatively small investment.
In fact, the most important investment for this eNewsletter–and for yours –is the time spent thinking about what to say, how to say it, and how to use visual elements to reinforce your message.
Trendspotting represents content marketing at its best. To learn more about Noise Inc., visit them at their website www.make-noise.com.

The design looks nice but what counts for me is the click-through rate. Is this design garnering a greater readership than the previous design?
