Got Blog Writer’s Block? How About 101 Ways to Get Unblocked?
Just when you think you’ve run out of ideas–here’s a blog to the rescue.
Just in time, I stumbled upon a great post from Philip Liu at ihelpyoublog.com. Philip is a most interesting writer who forces you to think when he offers up sometimes offbeat ways about improving your blog. This post actually goes back to March of 2007 but has kept all of its value.
One of the best things about his 101 ways is that he includes more links to articles that give you details on how to execute on his ideas.
Here are five of my favorite block busters:
- Review your statistics to see what keywords referred your visitors to your site and post about those. ( I had never thought of this before, but will check into it tomorrow.)
- Make a post simplifying a complex problem for your readers. (I need to do this for RSS and related tools)
- Post a picture that speaks a thousand words. (I love to add fun images to my posts–like the Budweiser Clydesdale and Dalmatian high-fiving; I firmly believe that just the right image can make all the difference).
- Do a post transcribing live events (If I had had my act together, I would have done this at the 2008 Custom Content Conference).
- Make a post about your fellow bloggers’ top posts.(This is a great way to help promote fellow bloggers and also to highlight key trends and concepts).
You should check out all 101 of Phillip’s blog writer’s block busting ideas. I think you’ll also find his blog frequently thought-provoking.
