marketing profs social media blog If you’re selling products and services and if you are using the Web to sell, social media marketing must soon become part of your marketing repertoire.

Thanks to an alert on my-creative team blog , I found the Social Media Starter Kit on Marketing Profs. It’s a terrific beginning point for those of us who are just beginning to focus on the ever shifting universe of social media marketing.

It’s a great way to learn the basics with helpful hyperlinks to resources you may want to use.  Click below for our take on the article.

Author, Chris Brogan, provides a quick overview of social media under the headings of:

  • Listening–ways to keep alert to what’s being said about you, about your company, and about the topics that are of compelling interest to you and your organization
  • Speaking–how to get your voice better heard on the web
  • Community–an explanation of the major social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn–and how to use them professionally
  • Rich Media–when you’re going beyond basic websites, blogs, and the eNewsletters, you’ll need to know about audio/video tools

Chris doesn’t intend this to be comprehensive but you’ll find it an extremely useful primer on the tools you need to use to be effective within the social media marketing universe.   Get the whole story here.
